Southern Comfort welcomes the posting of any Rogue-related fan-fiction to the group. When you post your original fan-fic, please follow this set of posting guidelines as closely as you can:
Your fan-fic story must have Rogue in it and she should at least be one of the primary characters featured. If your story is primarily about some other character, some SC members may see your story as "off-topic".
Issue one segment or chapter of your story per message - If your story is more than a brief 10-15 paragraphs (and most fan-fic is), posting the entire story in one message can cause some members problems with receiving and/or reading your story in its entirety. SC's majordomo also has a limit to how much text it can redistribute in one message, so please restrict posted fan-fic segments (and other SC messages) to a maximum of 250 average (72 character) lines or less.
Spread your posting out some. By not posting more than a chapter or two every day, members who download their mail can avoid a huge unexpected one-shot download which they may not have allowed time for if their online time per day is limited. This also allows members to read the story a little at a time and the element of suspense in waiting for your next chapter to arrive in a few days is an added bonus. :)
Let SC know your message is Fan-Fiction - Not all members enjoy reading fan-fic, even if they don't mind it in their inbox. Others are looking forward to your next chapter with eager anticipation! You can help all of these members by noting in the subject line that you're posting your fan-fic.
This is most easily accomplished by starting your subject line with "FF:".
"FF:" at the beginning of the subject line of a message will generally mean the message contains fan-fic so you can look for this notation if you particularly like or dislike messages such as this and you can then choose to read them first, last, or not at all if you aren't particularly interested in that form of entertainment.
Also in the subject line, note the title (or a couple of keywords in the title) and the chapter/segment number - This allows people to keep track of your story's consecutive order in case it isn't delivered to their address in the same order.
For instance, your subject line might read:
Subject: FF: A Rogue's Tale - chapter 1
Please include a statement at the top of each message (cut and paste, if you like) that will act as a disclaimer that you are using characters created and owned by Marvel Entertainment and that you are not making any money or profit from your story.
If your story contains adult material, please clearly note that in this first paragraph as well. Keep in mind that all members of SC are not adults.
Southern Comfort and members thereof are not responsible for any author's posting of adult material or for any failure to comply with copyright regulations or other legalities in association with the posting of any fan-fiction to the list.
